From the get go, at the core of our business is a social purpose, to give the gift of the best night’s sleep to as many kiwis as possible.
At Comfi, New Zealand's first direct-to-consumer bedding company, our goal has always been to provide the best sleep experiences for all, not just those who can afford it. We believe that sleep is essential to overall health, along with healthy food, stress management, and exercise. To achieve this goal, we teamed up with community organizations that work tirelessly to support those in need.
One of our key partners is Buttabean Motivation, led by Dave Letele. Our You Buy, We Give initiative is integral to this collaboration, where we donate one bed for every five Comfi beds sold. Thanks to our loyal customers, we have already donated a total of 29 King, Queen and Single beds to Dave and his team over the last 2.5 years, providing 60 people with the best sleep.
Recently, the Tamaki Makaurau region was hit by devastating floods, and Cyclone Gabrielle affecting many families. We knew we had to do more to help, so we reached out to Dave to see how we could assist. We donated 50 pillows, 5 beds, and 100 mattress protectors, and also started a community drive using our Parnell hub as a drop-off point for food and bedding. The response was incredible.
A few days later, Dave informed us that he had received a generous financial donation to assist in the disaster relief efforts and would like to purchase 25 Comfi beds (mattresses and bases). We decided to match the contribution and will be making the beds from scratch, bringing the total number of Comfi beds going to Buttabean a remarkable total of 50, which means at least 100 people will be sleeping on a brand new bed.
What’s more, for the next few weeks our You Buy, We Give initiative is going to Buttabean. For every bed sold we will donate one Single New Zealand mattress and base to whanau affected by the floods. “A massive thank you to the team at Comfi for always supporting us and helping families in need. We understand so many families are struggling right now and have lost everything to the floods, so this is how you can give back.” Says Dave.
